Candidate

  • Upstream canonical URL: https://github.com/larsbrinkhoff/ks10-udis
  • Source pinned commit/release when known: c41bcedde3ace1e68b2947ec220412e0f4a3d2ab (default-branch snapshot checked 2026-08-14)
  • Target concrete installed deliverable: udis KS10 microcode disassembler
  • Primary category: developer-tool
  • Tags: historical-computing, pdp-10
  • Primary language normalized: C
  • Build system: gnu-build-system with custom install phase
  • SPDX expression: GPL-2.0-only
  • License status: confirmed-free
  • License evidence: The upstream LICENSE/COPYING was previously inspected at the pinned snapshot and identifies GPL-2.0-only.
  • Difficulty: easy — The Makefile lacks installation rules but includes a straightforward stdin-oriented executable.
  • Workflow state: ready
  • Existing Guix coverage: Checked 2026-08-14: GNU Guix, Nonguix, Guix Science, Guix HPC, Guix Past, Guix 'R Us, and RDE; no equivalent package with the same upstream origin was found.

Scope and blockers

Install the udis command-line program.

Acceptance checks

  • guix lint -L. <package-name> and guix build -L. <package-name> pass once a package definition exists.
  • Pipe a bundled microcode fixture to udis with networking disabled.

Packaged as ks10-udis in signed commit github.com/htayj/guix-channel@21681af95c. The real Guix build installs udis plus ram.262 and documentation. Its bundled offline fixture completed successfully, producing 4,172 disassembly lines; lint and installed-program smoke checks pass.
