FOSS roguelike packaging census
Snapshot date: 2026-08-24
This is the tracking issue for source-buildable roguelike games and independently packaged variants discovered from the International Roguelike Database, RogueBasin, Wikipedia, and their variant-family indexes. It is a dated, reproducible census rather than a claim that every fork ever created is permanently known.

Result
needs:license-investigationbecause the catalog only reports a vague, inherited, mixed, or missing exact license.category:roguelikeinstead of duplicated.Inclusion and exclusion rules
libtcod/Doryen and SadConsole are examples).Completion definition
Each child ticket must independently establish canonical upstream identity, immutable source pin/hash, exact code and asset licenses, offline source closure, meaningful upstream tests, fresh HOME/XDG behavior, no store writes, and a local gameplay smoke. A catalog license string alone is not acceptance evidence.

Blocked by the census child backlog: this tracking issue can close only after its candidate tickets have independent packaging dispositions. Current audit finds no ready-for-agent child ticket; the candidates are in
state:researchor explicitlystate:blocked. This label makes the tracking dependency explicit and prevents it from being misclassified as immediately actionable work.Imported from GitHub comment. Originally posted by htayj on 2026-08-25T09:42:01Z.
