Candidate

  • Upstream canonical URL: https://github.com/B00merang-Project/Azurra_framework
  • Source pinned commit/release when known: 80f34032dbdbb8d9b1a61e61b88d6b669e46a34a (default-branch snapshot checked 2026-08-14)
  • Target concrete installed deliverable: Azurra GTK theme framework
  • Primary category: desktop-application
  • Tags: none
  • Primary language normalized: Unknown
  • Build system: gnu-build-system with Sass tooling
  • SPDX expression: GPL-2.0-only
  • License status: declared-free
  • License evidence: GitHub repository metadata declares GPL-2.0-only; the upstream license text still needs package-review confirmation.
  • Difficulty: moderate — The SCSS generation tooling and output/install layout need a bounded GTK-theme packaging plan.
  • Workflow state: research
  • Existing Guix coverage: Checked 2026-08-14: GNU Guix, Nonguix, Guix Science, Guix HPC, Guix Past, Guix 'R Us, and RDE; no equivalent package with the same upstream origin was found.

Scope and blockers

Install the generated Azurra framework/theme assets only.

Acceptance checks

  • guix lint -L. <package-name> and guix build -L. <package-name> pass once a package definition exists.
  • Build the local assets and verify expected GTK theme files are installed.

Goocastle recorded disposition: implementation-ready.

Created implementation ticket: #620.

Canonical upstream is https://github.com/B00merang-Project/Azurra_framework; pin commit 80f34032dbdbb8d9b1a61e61b88d6b669e46a34a and use Azurra/theme.conf version 4.2.7 as the package version (the README's 0.1-alpha is stale). At that exact revision the repository root contains the complete GNU GPL version 2 license text, and the Azurra SCSS and committed PNG assets are part of that single upstream origin, so the requested output-only package has a clear GPL-2.0-only redistribution grant. The exact tree has no .gitmodules file and no mode-160000 gitlink entries, so no independently fetched submodule origin is required. The only additional source origins needed for the build are Guix's existing native input sassc 3.6.2 at upstream commit 66f0ef37e7f0ad3a65d2f481eff09d09408f42d0 and its libsass 3.6.4 input at upstream commit 8d312a1c91bb7dd22883ebdfc829003f75a82396; each exact source revision has an explicit MIT/Expat-style LICENSE, and neither is vendored by this package. The local channel's b00merang-project-azurra-framework-source is preservation-only, and the pinned Guix revision 21c3d6748b65dad0d23c5d72e406ffee42212884 plus the checked Guix-family coverage contain no installable package for this upstream origin. Add an installable package in tay/packages/azurra.scm with module (tay packages azurra), using gnu-build-system and a direct codeload source origin for the fixed commit with the existing channel hash 1ak306pbwwy16b5kppbynn007l22krza6x9v5m2bc1qjjl9vgf70. Import sassc from (gnu packages web) as the sole native build input; there are no runtime inputs and no executable, launcher, or wrapper is required. Delete the default configure phase, replace build with direct sassc invocations for Azurra/gtk.scss to Azurra/gtk.css and Azurra/gtk-dark.scss to Azurra/gtk-dark.css, and replace install with only share/themes/Azurra containing gtk.css, gtk-dark.css, theme.conf, assets, and assets-dark. Do not install the other repository themes, SCSS/widgets sources, assets-render SVGs/scripts, or helper programs. Do not invoke upstream autogen.sh or its render scripts: autogen.sh calls a sass command rather than the Guix sassc binary, passes -C and --sourcemap=none options not accepted by sassc 3.6.2, has destructive rm deployment logic, and the Azurra theme.conf target directories are empty; the committed PNG assets make Inkscape, ImageMagick, and OptiPNG unnecessary for the requested output. Acceptance must be checked in an isolated, network-disabled build environment with guix lint -L. azurra-gtk-theme and guix build -L. azurra-gtk-theme: both Sass entry points must compile successfully, the output must contain nonempty share/themes/Azurra/gtk.css and gtk-dark.css plus readable assets and assets-dark, every relative assets URL emitted by both CSS files must resolve within that theme directory including the backdrop symlinks, and no bin, assets-render, SCSS, or unrelated theme directory may be present. Finish the smoke proof by loading GTK 3 with GTK_THEME=Azurra against the built share/themes tree in a disposable headless display and requiring a clean exit; no wrapper or runtime environment mutation should be needed.
